Bandhavgarh, on one page
This is the park where Sita raised her cubs and Pujari held his ground. It has one of the highest tiger densities in India. This page gives you the whole picture in five minutes: the map, the months, the day, and the words the guides use.

Tala · ताला
The famous one. The fort, the meadows, and the ground Sita made legendary. Permits here go first.
Magdhi · मगधी
South of Tala. Strong sightings of its own, and often easier to get a permit for.
Khitauli · खितौली
The quiet west. Fewer jeeps, more forest to yourself, and the birding is superb.
Around all three sits the buffer. Buffer safaris are real safaris, cheaper, and they often run even in the monsoon when the core is shut. Tigers do not read the boundary.

March to June. Hot, sometimes brutal. Also the best odds of the year: the forest dries and everything comes to the water.
October to February. Beautiful weather, green park, cold mornings. Bring proper warm clothes, the jeep is open.
July to September. Monsoon. The core zones close. Buffer safaris usually still run, and the forest is at its greenest.

The day
How a safari morning actually runs
Exact gate times shift with sunrise and season, so your permit has the real numbers. The shape of the morning never changes:

Before light
Wake up in the dark. Tea, warm layers, and the jeep is waiting. This part everyone remembers.

The gate
Permits are checked, a park guide joins your jeep. The guide is mandatory and knows the zone better than any app.

First hour
The best hour. The night's stories are still fresh: pugmarks on the road, alarm calls, every animal awake.

Deep in the zone
Your jeep follows fixed routes. No off-roading, ever. The driver and guide read the jungle and place the jeep where the odds are.

Out by late morning
The heat rises, the forest goes quiet, jeeps exit. Breakfast tastes better than it has any right to. The evening safari runs shorter, afternoon to sunset.
The words
Jungle terms, in plain words
Learn these seven and you understand most of what your guide says. Learn the alarm call and you understand the jungle itself.
Zone · ज़ोन
The park is divided into areas, and your permit is for ONE of them. Your jeep cannot cross into another zone. That is why choosing the zone matters more than choosing the hotel.
Core & Buffer · कोर और बफ़र
Core is the protected heart of the reserve. Buffer is the forest ring around it, shared with villages. Both have tigers. The core closes in the monsoon; the buffer mostly does not.
Alarm call · अलार्म कॉल
The jungle's own siren. When deer or monkeys see a predator, they call out, and every guide's ear is tuned to it. This chain is how most tigers are found:

Pugmark · पगमार्क
A tiger's footprint on the road. Fresh pugmarks over the morning's tyre tracks mean the tiger passed AFTER the last jeep. That is when drivers get interested.
Territory · टेरिटरी
A tiger's personal country, marked and patrolled. Males hold big ones, tigress ranges sit inside them. Every story on this site is at heart a territory story.
Permit · परमिट
Your entry ticket, booked in advance for a named zone, date and slot. Permits sell out before hotels do. This is the thing to plan around.
Waterhole · वॉटरहोल
In summer the whole game simplifies: water decides where animals are. Guides plan entire mornings around which waterhole still has water in May.
